Actor Jang Keun Suk has been confirmed for new drama ‘Daebak’ on SBS TV.
Director Nam Gun said, “Jang Keun Suk’s passion for acting had left a huge impression on me, and the character of ‘cheater’ Dae Gil that I have created was inspired by him.”
Jang Keun Suk will return to the small screen after a two year hiatus, and he said, “I have been studying myself in the past two years, and have also re-calibrated my attitude and passion towards acting. To change my image, I have been really cautious about choosing my next project. Finally, I was offered an excellent opportunity through ‘Daebak,’ and reappear in front of viewers as Dae Gil. I will work hard to act out the tragic role of Dae Gil.”
‘Daebak’ is a 24 episodes period drama that tells the story of Dae Gil who becomes a cheater after losing everything, and his wager with King Yeongjo. This will be Jang’s third period drama following ‘Hwang Jin Yi’ in 2006 and ‘Hong Gil Dong’ in 2008.
The drama will be directed by Nam Gun, while the script will be penned by Kwon Soon Gyu. ‘Daebak’ will follow ‘Six Flying Dragons,’ and premiere in early April.
