[Event] Jang Keun Suk receives the Torch in 2 Days - 2018-01-27

πŸ”₯πŸ”₯
Only 2 days left until Jang Keun Suk takes hold of the Winter Olympic Torch in Chuncheon! πŸŽ‰
Alongside Jackie Chan and Ando Miki, our dear Jang Keun Suk will be the last runner of the day. His task will be to light the temporary #Olympic cauldron in Hongcheon.

Today, January 27, the torch has reached Sokcho. Seoraksan national Park lies to the west, to the east is the ocean. Younggeumjeong Pavilion is known for its clear views of the sun rising & beautiful night views. Sokcho offers a variety of local culinary dishes native to the region...as well so many things to do.

Additionally, a grand celebration will take place at the Expo Tower, a high-tech observatory tower amid a national park where the mountain and the lake are well harmonized to welcome the entrance of PyeongChang 2018 OTR. The torch is expected to reach the Expo Tower somewhere between 17:00 and 18:00 hours. On the program are the Sincheon Dance Troup's "7 Fair Women's Dance for Prayer"; the Sokcho City Pungmuldan's Big Drum Performance; and the Sokcho Bukcheong Saja Noleum Conservation Association's "Bulcheong Saja Noleum."

As a side note, one of the runners to Sokcho is Choi Geum-Ja. After leaving her hometown 50 years ago. at the age of 25, she and her husband return to the city following their retirement. She was so enthused about returning home that she applied, via her sons, to run with the torch. To her surprise, she was chosen.  When she told her sons, "They said that even my grandchildren were exited and would surely come to watch me run. There has not been much snow in Sokcho so far, so I walk for an hour everyday."

"It's the 'last jackpot of my life'. Hesitating to the challenge is, in fact, quite natural when someone gets as old as we are. I have never lost interest in my hometown. Since the Winter Olympics will be hosted by our country after several failures, I felt my courage suddenly grow. Would such an opportunity come to me again? I am thankful for the opportunity given to me to shine in the second half of my life. I hope to live every day as happy as I am today." - #PyeongChang2018 press release
