[Event] Jang Keun Suk's Countdown Special Notice from IOC - 2018-01-25

We wouldn't post this but we want to make sure that no Eel violates #OIC - PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Brand (the “Games Brand”) - brand protections. We don't want JKS to get in trouble because his Eels violated the rules regarding IOC copyrights and trademarks. We know most of you are really careful and cautious...and we sincerely thank you for that. 정말!고맙습니다.

Nevertheless, we want to cover all our bases by posting the #IOC guidelines of their brand protections so every Eels knows what they are and follows them.

Significance and Necessity of Brand Protection

PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Brand (the “Games Brand”) is the visual or literal marks that show the identity of the Games, expressed mainly through the Games’ emblem, mascot, slogan, and other similar items. Brand Protection means to any activities protecting such emblem, mascot, slogan so the brand should be used properly without destroying its value.

"Brand Protection is very important in preserving Olympic and Paralympic legacy and in maintaining its spirit and value. By restricting improper use of the brand, Olympic or Paralympic can keep its purity. In addition, Brand Protection is important for the success of the Games. POCOG receives a significant amount of funding for operation of the Games with its marketing programme - attracting official sponsors, licensees, and ticket sales, etc. In other words, POCOG provides official sponsors with the exclusive right to use the Games Brand and in turn receives financial support needed for the Games. Thus, POCOG must successfully manage the Games Brand and raise its value for the successful operation of the Games. Without the smooth running of the marketing programme by POCOG, the operations of the Games will be less than satisfactory.

"According to Article 25 of the SPECIAL ACT ON SUPPORT FOR THE 2018 PYEONGCHANG OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC WINTER GAMES and Article 10 of the Enforcement Decree of the SPECIAL ACT ON SUPPORT FOR THE 2018 PYEONGCHANG OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC WINTER GAMES and the contract signed with the IOC, IPC, KOC, KPC, the following must be approved by POCOG. The word mark is also registered as a domestic and international trademark. So, you can use the word mark with the prior approval of the POCOG."

Further details can be found in both Korean and Englis on the IOC webpage.  Please click on the link to make sure you are not violating any of the IOC brand rules, trademarks, and copyrights. Just so you know, TEF submitted to and gained approval from the IOC for each of our "Countdown" graphics. You can copy and paste them exactly as they are...but you cannot change or alter them in anyway, per the IOC.

Thanks to everyone for following these #IOC rules for the #PyeongChang2018 #Olympics.
