[news] Jang Keun Suk attends funeral of friend and mentor - 2017-11-01

Our condolences go out to Jang Keun Suk as well as all the family and friends of the late Kim Joo Hyuk who died in a car crash in Samseong-dong, Gangnum-gu, Seoul, Korea. Jang Keun Suk attended the funeral services at the Hyundai Asan Hospital in Seoul on October 31. 2017.

In 2005, JKS worked alongside Kim in Lovers in Prague. JKS played Yun Gun-Hee, the younger brother of Yun Jae Hee (Jeon Do-Yeon), the leading lady, and the son of Korean President Yun Jeong Han (Lee Jung-Kil). Kim Joo Hyuk played Choi Sang-Hyun who had a complicated love relationship with Yun Jae Hee.

At the time of the drama, JKS was just a young 18 year old actor who recently had considered giving up acting. Lovers in Prague was JKS’ first major drama and may have been the catalyst that caused JKS to “devote himself as a true actor” as AsianWiki states it. Although not generally recognized, Kim became one of JKS’ early mentors as a result of them working together on this hit drama.

So while their individual lives may have gone in separate directions, JKS could not fail to feel a great sorrow at the loss of his senior and friend who made such a great impression on his life and career.

A video of the funeral attendees. As you can see in the video, JKS appears stunned and in shock, both entering and leaving the services.
